Title: It's still laugh-out-loud funny
Post by: Middle Child on August 21, 2016, 08:48:24 AM
I've read the Herriot books a thousand times.  At least!  It hasn't been that long since I read them but last night I found myself with nothing to read.

That is a desperate situation!

I finished my library book and neglected to go to the library yesterday while out running errands. (it was on the list, but I forgot)

I poked around all my books, but all my favorite re-reads seem to have been already recently read.  Old books that I hadn't read in years were considered but none of them sparked my interest. Books I'd never read but always meant to were no good either.

I leaned toward the Clan of the Cave Bear books but I only just read them last winter, and while I can read them any time, I force myself to stick to once a year.

Finally I decided to take All Creatures Great and Small off the shelf.  I know it hasn't been that long for them either, maybe 18 months or so, but I was desperate.  And do you know there I am lying there in helpless laughter all over again, even though I know the book practically by heart.
