Title: Got a friend ready to tip toe into raw for her dog

She's going to start, like I did 5 years ago, with a freeze dried food.  Any suggestions on brands?

Before last summer I would have recommended Stella & Chewy's, but not now.

Since half the world says that dogs need fruits and veggies, and the other half says no...  we do have Honest Kitchen in our rotation for Lacy dog.  I use the one (Base) where I add the meat.  I don't use any of the choices for the cats.

To help with the plunge and keep things simple...There are brands of raw that I don't care for (and do not feed), BUT I have to remind myself that they are usually STILL better then most canned, and definitely better then kibble. 
A few that come to mind are Primal, Fresh Pet, and Bravo.

RawFeedingMiami.com is a good source of good looking raw meat. 
MyPetCarniore is also in our rotation.
Hare Today makes my life pretty easy too. 

I push rotation, rotation, rotation for the non die-hard raw feeders.  Myself included.   Silly7

*die-hard meaning:  The ones that have the brain cells to figure out a chicken wing, a sardine, two blobs of this or that = balanced diet.   :)

Thanks Dee! Thank you for taking the trouble to round up the links.  I added The Honest Kitchen to the list for her, and Darwins, though I am not sure they make a FD.

I also sent her a link to a local pet specialty shop that carries Honest Kitchen.

Thanks Lola.  She will be starting with freeze dried though, not frozen raw.  Like you it's hard for me to push down my personal prejudices and just give her as many choices as possible.

Hopefully she will investigate the links and it will get her started thinking about dog nutrition in general. She's never really thought about it before.
