I want the cold weather!
« on: November 04, 2017, 10:57:12 AM »
I feel desperate to get out in the woods, but there's been a tick explosion here because of the unseasonably warm fall, so I don't dare go.  The last time I went, two weeks ago, hiking in a place I've never ever ever seen a tick before they were every where.  I walked for about 10 minutes and had to flick four ticks off my clothing so I turned around and went out, flicking another 3 off me, and two more when I got to my car. Instead of going straight home I went to the store first, hoping if there were any more to shed them before I came home.  I found another still on the sweatshirt I had taken off and put in the trunk.

We had our first frost last night.  First frost, in November.  Usually frosts start in September, or even late August.

And this one wasn't even a killing frost.

I did have a walk.  I went to the park where there is a couple of nice woodsy trails, without the brush that allows ticks to attach to you.  It wasn't quite what I wanted but better than nothing.

You know the saying "Be careful what you wish for"

Well here is what we've got today.  Mazy cat and I have been to the vet and back, safe and sound, the roads are slippery and visibility is poor during the snow squalls.  Two weeks ago I made an appointment to get the snow tires on.  Tomorrow.  funny2

It's 18 degrees with a windchill of 5.  Going down to 8 degrees tonight.  The snow didn't accumulate, but did leave a solid sheet of ice on my sidewalk and driveway.
