Petco and Just Food for Dogs and Cats Bring Real Food into Major Retail

(1/1)

--- Quote ---Move over pet feed aisles…real pet food made with human edible ingredients and human grade supplements will soon be hand made in select Petco stores. The times they are a changin’.

Just Food for Dogs announced this evening (5/14/18):

We have just reached a deal with one of the largest pet supply retailers in the world – Petco. Our partnership with Petco  goes way beyond a merchant relationship. JustFoodForDogs will actually be building Kitchens and Pantries inside of select Petco stores as a part of their massive store remodel rollout over the next few years. Just to be clear, we are going to put Kitchens inside of Petco stores! How cool is that! Our locations within Petco stores will be staffed by JustFoodForDogs Nutrition Consultants, which is unprecedented within the pet retail industry.

Wow!!! I always liked petco over most other large chains. Wonder if mine will be one of the lucky ones...

Middle Child:
Hmm.  Nice in theory.  I've had a look at their recipes.  A lot of ...smoke screening in the ingredients list.

For instance this:

Multi-Vitamin & Mineral Blend

JFFD Nutrient Blend is formulated specifically for each recipe to meet NRC RA recommendations. The blend is compounded from 100% human grade nutraceuticals regulated by the FDA.

Nutraceuticals regulated by the FDA?  What does that mean exactly?  Not much is my guess. A vitamin mineral mix of manmade chemicals probably from China, stamped by the FDA.  Big deal.

They are mighty potato and rice heavy too.

Still..I guess it's better than kibble.  ANYTHING is better than kibble.

It isn't a food that I would buy for my dog, BUT I do think it is a decent enough start for someone interested in feeding lightly cooked meals.  Definitely a step up from kibble!!!

The cat food, I wouldn't consider at all... personally.  One choice and it is fish and chicken.
