CatCentric.org certainly did its part to get the word out.  ;-}  The comments on the AVMA blog post now exceed 1K!!

Susan Thixton and Dr. Hofve are both attending... I can't wait to hear what happens.

If this is truly a human health issue, why is it you are involved and where is the health department? Do we not already have the FDA and others responsible for these issues? Please inform us why you are involved with a human health issue? Stick to what you are there for, to protect our pets and educate our vets, something which you have not done a very good job of so far. ... You are wrong, people are waking up and realizing that their vets don’t know much about pet nutrition and are drug pushers for big pharma, now poison pushers for the big kibble companies. Do you really think we are that stupid? I am calling on all Vets that are a member of this ASSociation to cancel their membership asap, you should all be totally disgusted.

I still can't get the petition page to load the newer posts first. But I am glad people are still signing and posting.  It's too bad the major bucks the PFI put into it will win the day. :(

As the resident cynic (  :-[ ), gotta predict that the powers-that-be (PFI) amp  up their deceitful propoganda -- and advertising.  Their subordinates, the veterinary association,  will do just as they are directed to do, by their almighty owners.

I added this to Twitlonger for you to his Twitter account:

@OperantDog @examinercom I posted the link to your tweet:  https://twitter.com/OperantDog/status/231306944399413249into the forum http://parenting-furkids.com Someone that doesn't have facebook acct.(I don't either) wanted to post a comment to you but couldn't, so said this in the forum:

BTW: I didn't see that it mattered that the comment would be about cats since the article he posted/wrote was about the AVMA's overall policy on raw feeding, so didn't point out that fact.

snippet from this article, you will want to read the whole article.

Q:  What are the benefits of raw diets, and how do they compare with commercially processed kibble diets?

A: There are many anecdotal reports of benefits associated with feeding raw food – including easier weight management; reduced dental disease; healthier coat and skin; elimination of allergies; improved overall health and immunity; and more – but there is no scientific evidence to support these claims. Raw food advocates also contend that the diet more closely resembles what dogs’ and cats’ ancestors ate, but this does not account for the evolutionary, biological and dietary changes that have accompanied domestication to produce the pet dogs and cats that currently share our lives. According to the Pet Food Institute raw pet foods comprise approximately less than 1% of the pet food market
  So based on their " Scientific studies" they are saying that are pets digestive systems have changed?? WTF!!!
it takes millions of years for this to happen.  Or am I reading this wrong?

 :(   What a shame for all the cats, dogs & ferrets who can't choose, who will suffer... because their humans will believe this.
Oh well, just one of many of these articles to come, as Damage Control is is full mode.  Best to ignore them & not click & give them revenue.

Here's CatCentric's latest post on this ridiculous but seriously disturbing turn of events: I have a question for the anti-raw AVMA veterinarians.

Since then, I've learned that some holistic veterinarians are beginning to back off raw feeding recommendations, for fear of losing their licenses. And I believe this situation is going to get far worse before it gets better. Hill's has partnered with Trupanion Pet Insurance and Purina has its own pet insurance program; if these programs don't already exclude raw-fed pets, it's a no-brainer they will in the very near future.  :-{
