Hubby keeps up on our "hometown" news, and he saw this article:

In Seattle, it’s cats, dogs and kids — in that order

I had always grumped at how much press the dogs always got, and how cats seemed to get the brush off.
Now, I suddenly feel vindicated.  :P
Just one more reason for us to move back!

Are cats required to be registered and/or vaccinated in Seattle?  Is that how they get their numbers?
