How to Heal Your Pet's Food Allergy

Today I want to discuss novel protein diets, because a lot of dogs and cats these days have food allergies.

In addition to chronic or intermittent GI disturbances like vomiting, diarrhea and loose stools, often food allergies show up as skin problems.

So itchy rashes, hot spots, bald spots, inflamed skin, and even recurrent ear infections can all be symptoms of food allergies.

There are many additives in commercial pet food that can cause allergic reactions, but most often your dog or cat will develop sensitivity to one of the main ingredients in the food you're feeding – usually a protein or carbohydrate.

That should be amended to read "usually a PLANT protein..."; as in, SOY
Or maybe, "usually a plant or DENATURED protein..."; as in, some proteins are changed so drastically when cooked, that they can cause the immune system to react adversely to them.

ETA...  Generally, a good article, didn't mean to sound snarky.   :)

Can't believe that people are still being fooled with the blanket "protein" culprit and nobody, primarily the Veterinarians who should know better, will tell all these people that the only "protein" carnivores should be consuming is meat.

So many people on forums say they have to limit their pets' protein due to this or that ailment.  So they are sold a "prescription" diet that merely substitutes alternate junk fillers which do not pass the "standard" <sic>  for "protein".
