I cat proofed the porch!
« on: June 10, 2014, 05:06:26 PM »
Sometimes the early evenings are so nice I just wish I could take the cats out.  I used to but that was before Mazy had so many digestive troubles, of which eating grass makes things even worse.  I still take them out on Sundays but I can't risk Mazy's insides getting gummed up with grass on a nightly basis.

So I cat proofed the porch.  I often read out there on nice evenings in the summer, now they can come with me, if they want.  So far Queen Eva is the only one who was willing to check it out.  I took video too, but haven't put them anywhere share-able yet.

These 3 pictures are snips I took from the videos showing Mazy investigating, watching Queen Eva, but not coming out.

Is there a door, from the porch to the yard?

I think that looks TOTALLY pawsome! Obviously, you ARE still as handy as always!

Thanks you guys!  Lola, the porch is upstairs.  The stairs lead down, but they don't lead into the cat's yard. the part of the fencing where the stairs are is movable so I can get in and out when I need to.

Dee..I'm really not. :)  If I was still as handy as I used to be I would have screened it in properly and even hung a door, so I could leave the sliding door access to the porch open.  But I just don't have the control in my hands or the strength any more.

I never thought of it before because up until I changed jobs I was hardly ever home in the later afternoon and evening, so I didn't get to use the porch much.

I took Queen Eva out again tonight for a few minutes, it's not very nice out so we didn't stay long.  I've decided to put their harnesses on them for the porch too, so they (QE especially) will know the difference between when it's okay to go out there and when it isn't. The other two still aren't interested. :)

Good job, MC!  And Queen Eva is SUCH a beautiful kitty.  (I'm partial to black and tuxie kitties  :) )

Thanks Pookie.  Queen Eva is my first black cat.  Bibbs was my beloved Tuxedo but I've never had an all black or an extra toed cat before.

Yes.  :) And I'm looking for a good one of Jennie-Jennie to add.  Mazy's full name is Mazy cat, by the way. I don't know why, but that is her name.  HeadButt

Mazy and Jennie came out on the porch tonight!  bananamiddlechild

All was going wonderfully until Queen Eva somehow got herself caught up in her harness, freaked out and freaked the other two out and everyone ran back inside..

I fed them right away hoping they'll forget about the freak out.

Good news, no trauma, in fact after supper Mazy cat ASKED to go back out on the porch!  She's very bold out there, too.  Until she heard voices next door......

But they all had another quick outing.  Beautiful evening, breezy and cool.  I'm so glad I can do this for them!
