Well I never saw any cat do THAT.  funny2 Jennie would have benefited from those houses you see on the internet, devoted to cats with shelves on the walls and such.  I haven't got any walls to put shelves on, but I don't feel she suffered for it, clearly she made her own fun. love1

I like sharing Jennie's unique character here with videos and stories and pictures, but it's a very lonely feeling to post things like this and not see any response. I appreciate your post.  Hug1

She did. She never got up on any furniture at all when she first came here. I think she wasn't treated well and was possibly not allowed on furniture.  I was thrilled when she started getting up high, and not flinching away when I noticed.

I saw the first time she got on the playhouse..and the look on her face when she saw the new perspective.  I will never forget it.

I had no idea it was possible to keep cats off furniture!
What is the playhouse?

In Jennie's case I suspect it was abuse that kept her off the furniture. I am certain she was hit.

The Playhouse is something I built for them after Tolly came.  It was Bibbs, Ootay and Tolly then, so it is close to 20 years old.

Here is Queen Eva modeling it tonight.  (The sisal post in front of it is not part of the Playhouse) And an old picture with Tolly demonstrating the little window between the two rooms.

The cave at the bottom runs the length, it was Ootay's place and no one has used it since Ootay left us.  Jennie liked to use the open room as a by-way from one side of the living room to the other. Queen Eva goes that way too, when playing Games.

The other partially enclosed room isn't used by anyone any more either.  Tolly used to sleep there a lot.

In case you were wondering that is a very old peacock feather in my hand in the first picture.

Someone dragged it out from somewhere, and it's been the Game of the Night for the last 3 nights.

Queen Eva likes to chase the feather end, Mazy cat likes to chase the other, non feather, end.

 funny2

Jennie never had any interest in peacock feathers

The Playhouse looks fun!  The feather . . . looks like it's seen better days.   Silly7

funny2 Well they don't hold up all that long anyway, but we haven't played peacock feathers in years, so this one really is ancient. I didn't even realize there were any left and I have no idea where this one was dragged out from, or who did the dragging.

They do love the Playhouse.  Bibbs and Ootay and Tolly knew when I started building it, that it was for them.  I do have some non-digital pictures of the process.  If anyone is interested I can dig them out this weekend and take shots of them and post them.  I used 2x2s, and 1/4 inch plywood, and remnants ($2 each, back then) from a carpet store.

The 2x4 you see on the front in the Tolly picture was for Bibbs, as she was a wood scratcher, but she never used it. Not the right kind of wood I guess, ha.  Tolly liked to rub his face against the top edges of it and rest his chin on it but eventually I bumped into it too many times and took it off.

PS. Tolly spent a lot of time on top of the Playhouse.  He was Top Cat.  When he left us, Jennie decided that Spot was a Top Cat Spot and took it over immediately, defending it from all others.  Eventually as years passed, she relaxed about it, and it once again became a spot any cat could use, but those first few years after she became Top Cat, it was Hers and Hers alone.

I found this on photobucket...It was in a folder on it's own with the title Jennie Top Cat 12-6-11.  Tolly left us 11/29/11

I found many more, most undated, but lots I would like to share here. Pictures before 2009 will be more complicated, because I didn't go digital until then.

Two cherished shots

The first one is really old because I haven't had those glasses in 10 years. Taken with my first lap top,  which I got in 2008, I was so excited about having a web cam and cable internet

The second is dated 3-7-13 That was during my hair grow out year, you can see a bit of my ponytail on my neck :)

Both downloaded from old photobucket folders
