The Purina Animal Nutrition plant in Wichita, Kansas, USA, has been cited by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) for multiple workplace safety violations.
OSHA said an inspection in October 2015 found multiple violations:

In other words, they don't give a bigger carp for the people working for them than they do the animals they're shoveling more carp at.

Workers exposed to fall hazards 6-10 feet from ladderway floor openings and platforms lacking guardrails.
Employees exposed to grain dust explosion hazards. The employer failed to implement housekeeping procedures to prevent grain dust accumulation in priority and non-priority areas. In some areas, more than 5 inches of dust had accumulated.
Workers exposed to dangerous sudden machine starts as the company failed to inspect and test energy control procedures annually as required.
Not only does it sound pretty filthy, but very dangerous! 40k plus in fines. That doesn't seem like a very large fine. Not to me anyway.

Dust around moving parts that can build up static is VERY dangerous. There's a plant in town named Hoeganaes that's had a LOT of people burnt from flash fires caused by metal dust being ignited by static. I think they're just about the most deadly place around here. OSHA been all over them more than once. A lot of good it's done. Give them a few years and it's back to BAU.
