Sasha's Mom here,

The Elspar shot Sasha received on Wednesday did not perform the magic we had hoped for. Sasha was unable to go for her beloved walks over the past days and her breathing became increasingly labored. After a sleepless night we made the difficult decision to help her to the Rainbow Bridge this morning.

We miss her so much it hurts. If love or money could have saved her, she would be here today and it upsets us that we couldn't do more.

Rich and I want to thank you all for your love and support.

Julie & Rich

I want to thank everybody for the kindness  grouphug

Our house has been so empty without Sasha  :'(

Tasha would sleep with Sasha every morning, usually getting in to bed with Sasha as I was leaving for work.  My husband says that Tasha has been sleeping in different places now, places we have never found her before.  She must wonder what happened to Sasha.

It's difficult to think of bringing a new dog into the house, especially since Sasha was so good in every way, especially with Tasha & TT.

Ugh, I miss her so much  :'(

Good to "see" you Tasha's Mom.
It will take some time for the entire family (furkids and humans) to adjust to the loss.  Were Tasha and TT able to say good-bye to Sasha?  The reason I ask...when we had to put a dog down, we told the cats we would be taking Mollie away.  They all went up to her, one by one, and just sorta said good-bye...no other way to describe it.  I think animals know.  Just my  2cents
When it is time, another dog will come along.  Probably when you least expect it.   :-*

I believe that animals know when disease is present, and I believe they knew she had cancer, but I can't say they acted any differently through her illness than they normally did.  Our plan was to have a vet come to the house for Sasha when it was time, but that night was very difficult for her and we didn't want to make her wait/suffer.  We had been up with Sasha all night an made the decision to take her at least 3 times before we actually did.  I honestly don't know where the cats were at that time, most likely they were blissfully sleeping...

Not making Sasha wait...completely understandable!
TT and Tasha probably already said their good-byes, and didn't see a reason to miss out on any shut-eye.   cat1

PS
I enjoy Sasha's picture, at the top of the forum.  I find it adorable.  Happy.  If, however, it bothers you in ANY way...I will remove it.

My girlfriend, who recently had to help one of her dogs cross the bridge, was telling me how the other dog was coping.
Out of the blue, Sierra will take the "brace for chase" pose and look over her shoulder... only to realize her sister wasn't there.  She is also apparently dropping her sister's favorite balls on her empty bed.

Nobody, but nobody, can tell me that animals don't grieve; and they don't "get over it" overnight, either.  It takes time.

Hugs to all of your family.
