Turkey Necks
« on: December 18, 2015, 04:17:14 PM »
Anyone feed these to their dogs (or cats)?  The ones I ordered from Hare Today are the size of my arm!  I'm thinking Lacy dog won't be sharing with the kitties.

The turkey necks in the turkeys we have cooked and your picture... I was expecting that size-ish.  The ones from Hare Today are HUGE.  They will be okay for Lacy dog, but they are way too big for the cats.

You should be able to buy them at a grocery store sold seperately? I got a 4 pack for like 1.79$

I can't find any necks at all sold separately neither turkey nor chicken.  Wish I could as Jennie loves them. I also cannot get turkey gizzards, only chicken. Again wish I could as they love them (found them once about three years ago in the frozen section at Price Chopper.  They never had them again)

Lacy dog doesn't mind not sharing.  lol
I did ask my local meat dept about them a while ago.  He was kind of a jerk, so I let it go... until I saw them on Hare-Today.  The Hare Today package did state how many and the weight...so THAT should have given me a clue they would be very large.   Silly7

Is there any way to cut them up into smaller pieces?  Like with a meat cleaver, maybe?    :-\

I bet Lacy dog was doing a major happy dance when she got one of those monsters!   dogstir1

They are pretty long and WIDE.  I'll just keep them for Lacy.  I know I'm lame... but it is just easier.
Lacy hasn't had one yet, because she apparently was a sword swallower in a previous life.  I have to attach vice grips to keep her from swallowing Bully Sticks whole...and I'm pretty sure she would do (or try to) the same thing with the necks.  I am currently out of vice grips.  They no longer work after a few uses.  Soap and water isn't the best thing for tools.  lol
