Organic potatoes
« on: December 16, 2016, 05:05:12 PM »
I bought organic potatoes today.  They were cheaper than the regular potatoes. The reason I found them was because the russet potatoes I was looking at (loose in the bin) looked hideous.  I wasn't going to pay $1.29 a pound for them, I wouldn't have taken them, free, disgusting! So I looked over the rest but I didn't see anything I wanted until my eye fell on the organic section, and I was shocked to see them $5.99 for a 5 pound bag.

I hope they're good!

Do you ever eat red or gold potatoes?  I don't know if there are any that are organic, but I recently tried them.... and now prefer them over regular potatoes, except for when making twice baked.  Those have to be russets.  :)

They had red and yellow organic potatoes too.  Sometimes I get the other kinds but russets are my favorites and I prefer those.

The organic potatoes weren't very good.  Not much flavor to them. :(

A stick of butter and some garlic would probably help.   ;D

Glyphosate is Round-up weed killer.

Oh yeah.  I do eat as much organic as I can for that reason.  I bought the potatoes at the time because 1) it was the first time they ever had them there and 2) they were cheaper than the regular potatoes.

You don't have to tell me.  I am convinced that our food supply is the basis of much that is wrong with the world today.  People who might have been normal otherwise, albeit..borderline,,,, are so hopped up on poisons and chemicals they've lose all impulse control.

Anyway I came back to tell Lola I took her advice with the last of them.  I was cutting up chicken breast for Queen Eva and Jennie and had some left over (I can only fit three ice cube trays anywhere, and sometimes only 2)

So I cut up the rest of the chicken breast, and the rest of the potatoes, threw it all in a baking dish, dumped some garlic powder over it, covered it with foil and stuck it in the oven.

it was pretty good.  Especially when I mashed it all together with butter and salt before eating it

It was even better tonight. I have enough for one more supper.

Mmm, that was so good again!

I usually like my leftovers broken up with other meals.  I mean, I'll have it on Sunday dinner, then Monday night, then Wednesday or Thursday night with something else in between. Eggs, or soup from the freezer.  I will often save one meal of the leftovers for the freezer, too.  But this was too good, and there wasn't enough for a freezer meal anyway.

We like to cook red potatoes on the grill.  Toss them in a foil pan with some water.  When cooked...add some butter, sour cream, and garlic ... mash them.  Delicious and pretty!  lol
They are just as good as left overs the next day.
