Sanitizing vacuum cleaners - any tips?
« on: July 30, 2022, 02:15:37 PM »
I had the carpets cleaned yesterday, which made them look much better.  The carpets are old and have been cleaned many times over the years, so there's still some lighter stains, but it's still an improvement.

I'm wondering if there's a good and safe way to sanitize the vacuum cleaners that were used to pick up litter that had been kicked/tracked out of the boxes, as well as vacuum up barf residue.  They also went over areas where she'd scooted after pooping.  All of the searches that I did talked about sanitizing the area where the bag is (both of mine have bags) and the exterior, but nothing about the part of the vacuum that actually goes over the floor.

Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance!

You mean the brush?  Take it off and wash it in hot soapy water. Add some vinegar if there are no metal parts. Wipe the casing with vinegar too.

Thanks!  I was hoping to not have to take the brush off, as it can be a beast trying to get it back on, but I think I may have to.  :(  Oh well.
