Trupanion (2nd largest Pet "Insurance" Co.) Becomes First Pet Insurance Provider to Cover Therapeutic Pet Foods and Nutritional Supplements

The expanded coverage will include the cost of therapeutic pet food for two months, as well as the cost of dietary supplements recommended by a veterinarian.

How clever. Sales must be slacking...

herapeutic pet foods and nutritional supplements can help improve the health of pets with a variety of conditions, from joint heath to skin health and are often recommended by veterinarians. Until now, the cost of these foods and supplements was always an out-of-pocket expense for pet owners, but Trupanion policyholders will now be able to recover these costs.

What are the odds bloat ... allergies to grains & glutens ... GI & Pancreas issues are "covered" for pets eating this food?   Of course food won't be a diagnosed cause in the first place so I guess it's all good.  bangshead

Wonder if patients needing Insulin for Diabetes are automatically disqualified?    It's only fittin'!!!

In addition to this new coverage, Trupanion has entered into an agreement with Hill’s Pet Nutrition, which offers a full line of therapeutic and wellness foods, including the Hill’s® Prescription Diet® pet foods and Science Diet® Healthy Advantage™ pet food.
“We listen to pet owners and veterinarians every day and evaluate policy improvements on a regular basis,” said Rawlings. “We look forward to announcing more benefits to our coverage in the near future.”

Ooooh, more benefits, can't wait! Lets' discuss the benefits of sawdust of pine tree, brewers rice, Corn Gluten Meal, Whole Grain Corn, Animal Fat, Dried Egg Product, Soybean Mill Run, Chicken Liver Flavor ...(God forbid they'd throw actual chicken liver in it)  and various forms of salt for carnivorous mammals please!!!!@!

Talk about taking Conflict of Interest to new heights!! http://www.prweb.com/releases/2012/1/prweb9100532.htm
