You know. Companies like Petbrosia and Pawtree--and it ain't another private company. Look at the link. Just go look.

Pretend I would be okay with feeding kibble.  After I entered all the required info, this is the carp they came up with for Lacy dog:

Quote
Chicken, cassava root flour, canola meal, pea starch, chicken meal (natural source of glucosamine), dried egg product, animal fat preserved with mixed-tocopherols, brewers dried yeast, animal digest, fish oil, inulin, potassium chloride, salt, Vitamin E supplement, zinc sulfate, ferrous sulfate, L-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate (source of Vitamin C), manganese sulfate, niacin, Vitamin A supplement, calcium pantothenate, thiamine mononitrate, copper sulfate, riboflavin supplement, Vitamin B-12 supplement, pyridoxine hydrochloride, garlic oil, folic acid, Vitamin D-3 supplement, calcium iodate, biotin, menadione sodium bisulfite complex (source of Vitamin K activity), sodium selenite. Here's "Hoofie's" blend (And I like the "You chose these ingredients for Hoofie" part) funny2. See anything familiar?

Because Hoofie is a 4-year-old, giant breed dog that is active and ideal weight, we recommend these features in his blend:

Grain Free
Healthy Skin & Coat
Activity
Hoofie's recommended daily feeding instructions:

Based on what you told us about Hoofie, we've recommended a personalized blend that matches his unique nutritional needs, as well as recommended daily feeding instructions designed for him.
Hoofie is:
4-Year-Old
Boy
Giant Breed

Ideal Weight
Factors like Hoofie's metabolism rate can affect the amount of food needed to maintain his ideal body condition. Our team of Just Right® Pet Experts has provided personalized feeding instructions for Hoofie down to the calorie, but that's just the starting point. If he is unnecessarily losing weight or becomes overweight when fed these amounts, please contact our Just Right® Pet Experts and we'll work with you to make the appropriate adjustments.

And out of curiosity since I've not read any labels any time recently, I had to look up "canola meal." MmmK

"Canola meal is one of the most widely used protein sources in animal feed for livestock, poultry and fish."

So, okay. Now dogs are either livestock, poultry, or fish. That's great.

I'm pretty sure pet food is rated as "feed" by the USFDA and the US Dept of Ag.

Purina must be getting really desperate to try a stunt like this. That's a good thing.

Here's a kicker for you. They have no other formula as far as grain-free goes. The only different choices I had for this profile (Obese Corgi) were chicken, salmon or lamb. The chicken was recommended. The chicken formula is the same darned other formulas for both Lola's AND my BRT profile:

Bogdan's recommended daily feeding instructions:

Based on what you told us about Bogdan, we've recommended a personalized blend that matches his unique nutritional needs, as well as recommended daily feeding instructions designed for him.

I forgot to look at the price for the "unique custom ingredients."  Did you?  I would guess it is pretty high... to keep up with appearances of it being a better food.

I didn't even bother after I saw the ingredients, b/c I've already seen the price of Purina Beyond in the grocery stores. Yeah. They jack it WAY up on those formulas.
