I'm putting this here since it applies to both dogs and cats, and frankly, because I'm too lazy to post it under both.     This article is from Dr. Hofve's site and discusses the absurdity of laws that mandate a pet be quaratined for 6 months or euthanized if their rabies vaccine is out of date and they have been (potentially) exposed to rabies.  The vaccine doesn't "expire" in the body on a set date, and in many cases, is still effective long after:
