I don't have canines,  Bumpurr1 but I have been giving Pookie the feline version.  Until recently, he eats it without a topper, and he tolerates it.  For me, if it meets those 2 criteria it gets a  thumbsup1.  I will say, though, that lately he seems to have lost interest in the pheasant.   :-\

Maybe you put it in the cat food section because they also make a cat formula?   :D  Primal has raw for cats or dogs.  The dog formula I think tends to have a bit more veggies, and they also sell bones for dogs but not for cats (and these are BIG bones, so I wouldn't give them to a cat anyway).  Their food is a bit pricey, but hey, I guess Pookie has expensive taste.   funny2

I THINK veggies, in dog food, is a bit less of a concern.  ??
Our dogs are really easy to feed, as far as brands and flavors.  They seem to like everything and everything seems to agree with them.

Veggies in dog food is less of a concern, because dogs actually can derive nutrition from plant sources, unlike cats. Personally, I believe that the canine diet should still be a minimum of 80% animal based. Grains, however, are still controversial and generally considered not to be needed.

Thanks Amber.
I TRY to shoot for the least amount of fruits and veggies as possible.  I totally stay away from grains.

Ordered this brand today for Lacy.  Half the world says to feed dogs more than just meat and the other half says not to.  At this point, I'm in the half that says to feed more than just meat.  :)

Well, you know that I agree with Dr. Karen Becker http://healthypets.mercola.com/sites/healthypets/archive/2011/09/01/serious-mistake-with-pets-raw-food.aspx, Dr. Jean Dodds http://drjeandoddspethealthresource.tumblr.com/post/83518859389/prey-model-barf-diets, and others like them. Meat alone isn't a good diet for animals that were bred eating their owner's table-scraps.

I'll hand it to the PFI that our domesticated dogs aren't wolves, but the thing is, when they were bred, they weren't fed kibble. Even the Russian women I've talked to say that BRTs weren't bred by kibble, and they're a breed that's less than 100 years old. They didn't actually have these processed foods in Russia until a couple of decades ago. I've been also told that the BRTs started having shorter lives along with the kibble revolution.

So, yeah. I think they need more than meat, and I honestly try to include foods that are commonly eaten in their countries of origin because. . .

Just a heads up...

This raw frozen contains Montmorillonite Clay.  :(

Montmorillonite is a very soft phyllosilicate group of minerals that typically form as microscopic crystals, known as clay. It is named after Montmorillon in France

Stores don't always keep up with changes in products ingredients lists.  I'd recommend contacting the company directly for clarification.

Primal said that OnlyNaturalPet.com has info that is YEARS old.  The ingredients list on Primal's website is correct.  Bummer because I ordered Primal due to the ingredients list I read at OnlyNaturalPet.  Now, I have food with montmorillointe clay in it.  :(

You can feed it as a once in a great while meal until it gets used up?
