Friends' rerun, season five, the one where Ross moves in with Joey and Chandler.  When I get home from work I like to turn on tv without commercials (dvds in other words) that will make me laugh, and the 10 seasons of Friends is in the rotation.

I don't listen to music in the house because I only have a crummy 'boom box" with terrible sound, so I listen to cds in the car only.  But then, my work is itinerant so I spend a lot of time in the car.

When I first read this thread earlier though I was listening to The Boy purr, he was on my lap.

Although I don't know much Spanish, I much prefer the Spanish version of this song over the English one.

I'll Stand By You - The Pretenders

When my bestest girlfriend was diagnosed with brain cancer, this was our song. (Not all the words apply, but...we made it work.  lol)  She asked if I would stand by her.  Would I be the "outlet" for her to share her fears, tears, anger, AND positive thoughts about dying.  We had a LOT of wonderful and open conversations. We laughed.  We cried.  We got screaming pizzed at times too.
She also asked me to be the one to call Hospice when she was ready.  She didn't want her family to feel she was leaving THEM, or was giving up.  (This was her third fight with cancer, since she was a young child.) Every fight comes to an end...one way or another.  She knew she wasn't going to win this time.
I'm truly thankful I was asked, and able, to be the kind of friend to her (in her darkest hour)...that she had always been to me.

With that said...music (and Kleenix) please.

I miss you like crazy, Judy.

Hubby and I HAD planned to renew our vows on our 25th anniversary.  We are still married, just didn't do the renewal of the vows.  (I was 14 when we married.  ;) )We were going to play this song.  We thought it would be funny to see the expressions on people's faces when they heard the title...but didn't listen to the lyrics.
(Is all this "background" info on why I like a particular song necessary?)  lol

A Star Is Born. 1976  (For the record, I wasn't legally old enough to see the movie in theaters.)
Kris Kristofferson
Hellacious Acers

Look who’s advertising
Billboards everywhere
"see hellacious acres
Your tailor made nightmare"
Traffic is backed up for miles
Attendants welcome you with devilish smiles
Steady ... steady ...
Have your tickets ready
Steady ... steady ...

Go to hell
After dark
It’s a sin filled city
An amusement park
It’s a one way ticket to the other side
It’s a dr. jekyll and a mr. hyde
See lizzie borden, she’s one of the stars
And tricky dicky barkin’
Flashin’ you his pardon
Jack the ripper slashin’ your tires

Even the devil needs money
To cover his overhead
That’s why he opened hellacious acres
Or so his press agent said
Hang out with heavies
Your partners in crime
Forget the consequences, have a good time
Steady ... steady ...
Have your tickets ready
Steady ... steady ...

Go to hell
After dark
It’s a sin filled city
An amusement park
It’s a one way ticket to the other side
It’s a dr. jekyll and a mr. hyde
Get down and study suspicion and doubt
At hellacious acres
Listen mischief makers
Admission’s free you pay to get out
