Sorry I feel a little out of the loop here..wow lots of kitties going to the Vet. :( Im glad that Roxy is doing better. I was just talking to Lucy's mum on FB, her Lucy just broke out with little red things all over her head too. She has not been like that for quite a few years. She lives in Arizona...maybe there is something in the air?? strange. Lucy's mum uses these  Duoxo Calming Pads, and it works for her. Im not sure exactly what Roxy has??

So, has anything happened with the raw? How's the rash?

An allergic reaction to Pepcid is a RASH.

Hubby cut up 20mg pills, instead of the 10mg.  Not only are the boxes marked, the pills are different colors!  I just noticed the color difference TODAY.  No wonder we didn't kill her!!

Between our notes and my posts here... the Pepcid change and rash coincide.

Wow. I guess it's time for ACV all around.

Why? Isn't the vet the one that told you to give it? Shouldn't the vet know that it can cause allergic reactions and warn you of them?

This vet isn't the one that recommended it, but it is in her records...and he is all for it.  HOWEVER, he (and we) thought we were cutting up 10mg pills... not 20mg!

You can feel better about Pookie's dental now.  ;)
I do think it is "good" news... in that sense.  I just hope we didn't do something awful to her insides...worse than they already are.

Hubby isn't a dumb asp...he doesn't take Pepcid.  I do...on occasion.  The boxes are marked for my benefit... so I don't screw up.  I am the one that always cuts up Roxy's pills.  I cut up several weeks in advance, and then put them in a container marked "Roxy."  He wanted to do me a favor.  He probably picked up the first box he came to...wouldn't have thought to read (probably didn't eve notice) my scribbling on the box.  Heck, he probably didn't even KNOW there were two strengths in the cupboard!

Some days I feed two meals and he feeds one..and visa versa.  Neither of us ever feed all three meals.  His "job" is to always give her Pepcid.  If he feeds two meals... she gets her normal dose...1/4 twice a day.
If I feed two meals, I OFTEN don't give her any Pepcid.  My "goal" was to give her the least amount possible...and her still not throw up.  Going with just a 1/4 a day every day, wasn't successful... but going with 1/4 for two meals... "hit and miss" was.

The above, so-called system (with the 20mg pills), is why her rash seems to be going away some days... and not going away on other days!

I know one cat can have issues with something... and others not.  But it just seemed SO unlikely that she would have issues with the Alnutrin and NONE of the others do.  6 cats... the odds just weren't there.  I kept thinking what is different with Roxy.  The raw and Pepcid?  The Alnutrin and Pepcid?  That's when it hit me... and I noticed the Pepcid, in her container, was MY Pepcid!

Roxy has been having double the dose of pepcid (for how long) and you think that's what caused the rash?  Well!  Not wonderful that it happened, but certainly wonderful to know what caused it.

So are you going to stop it altogether, or just go back to her normal dose?
