Cats should not have medium chain fatty acids, of which coconut oil is one. I know some don't agree with me on this but I can't see coconut oil suggested without jumping on it.

The bone broth is one idea, as is changing from pepcid to one of the other antacids.

Mazy takes slippery elm bark, has daily for two years now. She gets 1/8 teaspoon in her lunch meal, that's her smallest meal of the day, so I don't worry as much about nutrient absoprtion being affected.

I guess I should have said to apply the coconut oil topically, not orally. Cats may get a little by licking their fur, but in my opinion not enough to do any damage.:)

Ah yes, I agree with you there.  I used it on Mazy cat's chin acne (first time she ever has had it) and it did clear it up quickly. :)

I'm not comfortable with coconut oil.  It is pretty controversial.
I have been thinking she is at a standstill.  Maybe what I am looking at is scars.  ??  If my vet wasn't such a putz, I could just take her in and ask.   >:(

Thanks for the pic!  Ok, confession:  I have a headache hangover, so I may not be looking at it very well, but it looks to me like those are cysts (unless I'm looking at something else).  And my first thought when I saw them was colloidal silver (used topically).  But I may not be seeing what you're seeing, and even if I am, there's no guarantee the silver would clear it up.  However, it is anti-viral, anti-bacterial and I believe anti-fungal, so it wouldn't hurt.

Confused yet?   Silly7

The picture isn't that great.  What I am trying to show is her chin area.  To me, it looks like the hair just isn't growing back.  The spots aren't red, scabby, oozing, etc.  They are just there.  ??

Was shooting for Prilosec, because it is different than the Pepcid.  There are basically two groups.  Pepcid is in one group and Prilosec is in the other.  I wanted to see if Prilosec /raw combo would keep her "rash" free.  BUT... Prilosec is 20 mg.  I don't know if it can be cut into EIGHT pieces!  Also, it states STRONGLY to not use more than two weeks.

Roxy needs to be eating raw, not one canned food...Ziwi peak venison.  She is barf free with it and Pepcid, but nothing about that situation is good.

Does anyone know, or have a good guess, how long Pepcid stays in a cat's system?  I am considering taking her off antacids completely, and feeding her only raw...see what happens.

Just to clarify... I don't know if the Pepcid/Alnutrin combo was her rash problem.  I don't know if she developed an allergy to a protein.  The barfing situation makes it that more difficult to figure out.

The picture looks like regular feline acne to me, on the healing side.  It takes a long time for fur to grow back.

We started Roxy on Prilosec today.  It was difficult, even with a pill cutter, to get it cut into 8 pieces!  Anyway...changing from Pepcid in case it - combined with Alnutrin - was the chin and ear "allergy" trigger.
My plan is (unless someone has a suggestion).... to give it to her for a few days.  Maybe a week or two.  If all goes well...no barfing...I will then re-introduce raw.

Thanks.  There are so many variables, as far as coming up with a plan...I'm never sure if I am missing something obvious.  :)

Thanks, MC.

So much for sticking to a plan...

If she didn't get 3 doses of Pepcid, she would barf.  BUT since Prilosec IS different...I only gave her 1/8 - twice yesterday.  I really want to give her the least amount possible.  Anyway...no barf.  YaHOOOOOOOO!
