Garbage TV on Saturday Mornings...
« on: November 09, 2013, 09:20:03 AM »
...on CBS has been replaced with a show called "Lucky Dog!"

Not too sure I trust his training methods though. I heard him telling a dog "Lay down," repeatedly. He's repeating the command too often too. Everyone I know has always said that you need to keep commands to 1 word--including Daddy YEARS ago. But at least the guys heart is in the right place.

That's one of the hardest things I've had to do with hubs concerning Barkly. Break him from saying more than one word. His dad had foxhounds, but I don't think anyone else in the family was involved with their training and field trials before their mom died, and he had to get rid of them due to lack of time.

Haven't heard of the show, but we also (unknowingly) taught the dogs some two word commands.  "Sit nice" being one of them.  I find it amazing that the word "sit" only ....gets no reaction.

Mannnnny years ago, we had 2 Great Danes.  We taught them that our extended hand meant they could use the palm of our hands as a "step" to our shoulders.  Cute as heck.... until an unsuspecting person did the same...assuming s/he would be shaking "hands" with the dogs...but ended up staring eye to eye with a very big, but friendly as heck, dog.

Some people shouldn't have pets.   Bumpurr1

BOL! When I want to show someone exactly how big Vlad CAN be, I pat my stomach & say, " Hug please." (I consider this a trick not a command.) Then he puts his paws up on my stomach. Once he does that, I'll put my hands under his paws and let him raise them to my shoulders. We started doing this to stop his jumping up and demanding a hug. After he was about 6 mths old, he could knock me on my butt when he did it unexpectedly.
