Title: Feline's Pride AKA My Pets Pride - WARNING
Post by: Lola on August 01, 2011, 05:20:09 PM
EDIT:  READ THROUGH THREAD BEFORE PURCHASING FROM My Pets Pride.
Also, two threads have been combined... just in case some of the posts seem "off."  :)

I'm back on a the raw mission...

Any comments about this food?  Any experience?  Seems it is highly recommended by several Internet folks that I admire.

Feline's Pride and Rad Cat are my two current favorites for commercial frozen foods.

They ship USPS.  It is twice the price (for me) than FedEx. *sigh*

I put in my first order today.  As mentioned elsewhere on the forum, they only ship USPS.  :(  Shipping fees are twice as much as I pay other companies that I order from.  And they are closer to me!  I just have to b*tch about it for a while, then I will get over it.   Silly7

I ordered chicken, turkey, rabbit, and cornish hen.

Just for the dogs? Has it come yet?

Just for the dogs? Has it come yet?

I corrected the subject line.  They have Feline's Pride and Canine's Pride.
My order hasn't been shipped yet.  Not sure why.  Going on two weeks.  My payment cleared on the 12th.

Ordered Jan 15.
Received order today...Jan 29.

They don't have a business contract with Fed Ex or UPS.  They ship via USPS.  Not having a business shipping contract increases the shipping fees drastically.

They use the same size box as My Pet Carnivore, but they only fill a box with 12 - 16 0z containers. MPC fills a box with a minimum of 24.

They use MASSIVE amount of packing materials.  Major over-kill. There was 20 pounds of refrigerated gel in EACH box.  Product could have EASILY replaced the refrigerated gel.

Now I know why their shipping fees are twice as much as My Pet Carnivore, Hare-Today, and Rad Cat.

I was also shorted 13 items.... HALF of my order!

I am NOT happy!     bangshead

The shipping fees are calculated with the amount of product ordered.  I paid their HUGE shipping charges on the product I didn't receive.  They had better send the product and not just give me a refund on the product they didn't ship.

I am just livid!  I know.... everyone makes mistakes, but... I don't have the patience for piss poor customer service today!

They're in a crappy location for raw food too. Florida? That is probably why they do the overkill. To keep it from thawing on the dock while they wait for USPS to take it to a plane, truck, whatever.

But yeah. I'd be freaking as well.

Wow.  I'd be really angry too. It wil be interesting to see how they handle it.  This is no way to keep customers.  Especially that filling the container with gel bags instead of frozen product. Boo.

I received a response to my email today.  She is going to check with USPS that all boxes were delivered.  They were.  I know because they sent me tracking info when they shipped my order.  The tracking info showed two boxes.  I received both.

EXACTLY.
My Pet Carnivore uses the same size boxes as My Pets Pride.  MPC fills a box with individually wrapped product FIRST and then adds ice packs.  Between the frozen product and ice packs, everything stays frozen.

Even if My Pets Pride had shipped my entire order, it could have all fit into one box... with a FEW ice packs.   That would cut the shipping charges in HALF.  Since shipping fees are calculated when an order is placed, apparently the over-kill of ice packs is their norm.

I really wanted to add another source of raw.  And I REALLY like that they offer cat and dog food... the dog food containing vegetables.

Maybe I will send them a picture of my next order from My Pet Carnivore, before I unpack it.  Maybe if they SEE the packing difference, they would be willing to make changes.  It would benefit them in the long run, by making them more "even" with their competition.

Received an email today.  The missing items will be shipped Monday.  She also said it is their NORM to fill a box with 20+ lbs of ice packs, instead of product.

You wonder sometimes how places stay in business.  What a contrast between your experience and mine with the Cornish hens..  And mine was just a delay in acknowledgement!

Well I'm glad you finally go SOME of it. But I'd be witching them out about it still not being right. We shouldn't spend money to throw it away.

This brand won't be part of our rotation.  I was less than happy that they include 20 pounds of ice in each box, rather than filling a box with more frozen product... and less ice.  Paying for 40 pounds of ice was not acceptable.

Anyway...I don't know what the bone content of their product is (I probably could find the info on their website), but there is more bone fragments than any other brand we are feeding.  Lilly and Lucy leave a lot of bone on their plates.  Both of them normally lick their plates clean. Hours after a meal, Roxy will bring back up bone fragments.

This brand is off the list.

I received a postcard in the mail...

"As a frustrated customer, who loves the product and our cats LOVE the food, we bought the company and brought back Fed Ex shipping the original while, extreme freeze, thick plastic tubs for the food, and hired 2 new customer service reps to answer emails and calls!"

"We are now back to using Fed Ex exclusively for shipping.  We are using their WHITE GLOVE SERVICE, meaning temp controlled trucks!

Celebrate with 15% off, coupon code "FEDEXME2"

I may order again after all. IF it also means they will now fill a box with product, rather then split an order into two boxes... filling each box with 20 lbs of ice.

I liked their variety and I really liked that the dog food contains fruit and veggies... cat food does not.

The website isn't updated about any new owners.  So I Googled... came across their BBB rating.  It is an F.  There are some recent complaints of non-delivery, their phones not being answered, ignored emails, etc.
I won't be putting in an order anytime soon...

UPDATE:
Voluntary Dissolution (under the Gomas name) June 2016.

I emailed the new owners and asked about their shipping practices.  The reply...

Quote
We are using the large seafood shipping boxes, so we use one box per 30 pounds of food when shipping.

I put 30 lbs of food in a cart to see what the shipping charges would be.  They still only show USPS for shipping... not FedEx.  The shipping charges would be $119.43.  That is REALLY steep.  I'll have to email them again and ask them about FedEx shipping.

Will update...

Goodness I am confused!  When you e mailed do\i you ask about that post card you got?
Title: Re: Feline's Pride AKA My Pets Pride - WARNING
Post by: Lola on July 19, 2016, 12:01:17 AM
I mentioned the postcard.  I also gave a short explanation of previous owners splitting my order into two boxes and adding 20 lbs of ice to each box...asked how they package.  S/he answered what I posted above.  30 pounds in ONE box is a huge improvement.
At the time of my email, I didn't notice that they hadn't updated their shipping from USPS to FedEx... so I sent another email and asked about that.
I find it a bit odd that NOTHING has been changed on the website to show new ownership or anything.  I would think updating the website would be a HUGE priority.  Especially since they are pretty much an online business and sent out post cards.  But what do I know.  :)

I've had doubts about the "new owners."  Apparently, I'm not the only one....

Quote
6/30/16
I think you may be right. Have been trying for three weeks to get shipment of an order I placed a couple months ago and was told I could have shipped later, when I needed it. First the "new owners" told me they'd fired all the old employees and that one of them had deleted all the customer order phone calls and emails as retaliation. They promised me an immediate shipment that never materialized.

It took a week of calling and emailing to get another reply. This time they said there'd been a gas leak that kept them out of the office for a day and a half. I Googled it, and there actually was a leak, but only one business was evacuated and only for a couple of hours. They said they'd send me an immediate shipment that's supposedly arriving tomorrow. But it's been 3 days with no response  to my requests for a tracking number, and FedEx has no record of a shipment for me from them.

If they truly are new owners, they should be bending over backward to keep the customers they have and instill confidence in them! This is not the behavior of a company that was taken over by passionate people who want to repair the mistakes of their predecessors.

I agree with the other posters, it's just another of the same.  No new owner, sounds like the owner is a pathological liar and a scam artist.  It is incredible to me that these people who have been scammed by her do not win, surely credit card companies must be able to spot such obvious scamming! Does using FedEx save her from mail fraud?  Because that is something she is allegedly guilty of based on those posts.

Read some complaints here:
http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/my-pets-pride-fresh-frozen-raw-cat-food-c782345.html#comments

Pay close attention to the complaint from July of this year.  Something smells fishy.  The new owners "sound" like the old owners.

Complaints still rolling in.  I think I am convinced the "new owners" aren't truly new owners.  Family members took over the business after Mr. Gomez passed, and they have been running it into the ground.  Their ethics could use some serious work!

More complaints:

Snip:

According to the Florida Department of State Division of Corporations, My Pet's Pride, a.k.a. Feline's Pride, officially dissolved their business on June 25, 2016.

However, they continue to operate under the name My Pet's Pride, taking people's money and not sending them any product. Our contact for the last 3 years, Suzanne McCaffrey, is now pretending to be someone named "Eileen" and on June 2, 2016  told me the same lie about an ownership change and a fabricated "disgruntled former employee" that she told another CatSite.org poster back in January 2016!

I placed my order for 80 lbs of food on May 8 and asked to have it delivered after I returned from vacation. On June 20 I emailed to request delivery and was told they would send it FedEx. It is now Aug. 15 and I have still not received my food.

PS
Last year, I also received an email about the "new" owner.

I received the following email this week.  My first thought .... they are trying to unload some skanky food.

I received an email from them today.  They are back up and running after Hurricane Irma.  They SAID they tossed all the defrosted food.  Since they seem to have issues with the truth, I would SO not trust them.  I stopped buying from them when their service went down the crapper.  Then the pretend new owners took over.  I ordered from them.  My order was a mess.  No more.

Interesting that the new owners don't own the website:
https://www.whois.com/whois/mypetspride.com

Also interesting is their business license is inactive:
