Caring For Your Cat / Re: Queen Eva threw up with a pink tinge
« Last post by Middle Child on January 31, 2024, 05:15:50 AM »Things went haywire, she stopped eating and had diarrhea all day yesterday. Sitting around in that crouched cramp. I would say adding fat is not going to work for her, but at least she's cleaned out.
i tried to give fluids last night but she objected and disconnected the needle after only about 10 ml. I think it wasn't warm enough. It's so cold here, even with the furnace running it just got chilled again from me taking it from the kitchen to the bathroom. No way to keep the fluid in the tube warm, usually I let it run into the sink before I start but I forgot that step.
I let her go 13 hours without food and this morning she is asking to eat, but I haven't fed her yet.
PS rejecting breakfast. Gave her the fluids, went a lot better this time, and she allowed it. I kept it warm by leaving it in the basin and carrying it, in the basin of warm water, to the bathroom.
I told her what was going to happen, gave her the Burrowing Towel in case she wanted to tuck her head in (she did), remembered to check the temp and flow before starting, and while she complained a bit, she did not struggle and allowed me to give her 50 ml fluids.
EDIT after she washed the indignity off in front of her favorite hot air vent, she ate a little of her breakfast, but not much.
