Pork

Do any of you feed your cats or dogs pork?  I don't see it being a natural diet for a cat.  Maybe a dog.  ??

I know a lot of people that DO feed pork, but I don't. There's just too many issues with raw pork and humans that I don't feel comfortable having my dogs eating it even if it does THEM no harm. The thought of getting trichinosis gives me the heebie jeebies.

Many of the raw feeders I know have pork in the rotation.

It's funny you bringing it up just now because I've been thinking about adding cooked pork with EZcomplete to Jennie and Queen Eva's rotation, now that I've got EZcomplete, which can complete cooked food, .

I won't feed it raw.

I'm not too worried about trichinosis.  The odds are slim.
Feeding it to a dog doesn't seem so odd, but it does for a cat.... in my pointed head.   Silly7
Anyway, my local grocery store had pork tenderloin on sale for $1.99 a pound.  I picked up several pounds... for the humans and the furkids.  lol

I have some Alnutrin (for use without bones) on hand.  However, I also ordered FoodFurLife.  May as well use a variety of supplements!  I hope to grind up the pork this weekend.

Can't wait to hear how they like it!

Remember that the EZcomplete is for plain meat only, no organs or bones. My girls have developed very particular ways they want to eat EZcomplete meals.  funny2

I will be grinding the pork tomorrow.  I'll make a batch with Alnutrin and a batch with EZComplete. I'll keep ya posted!

Ground up the pork today.  Yes, I am going to feed it raw.  As I said above, I made a batch with EZComplete and a batch with Alnutrin for meat and organs (no bones).  The taste testers were Jenkins, Lola, Arrows, and Roxy.  Roxy apparently is going to need coaxing to eat pork.  The rest were good with both batches.

I know MC already posted this link.  Thought I would add a snip also.

Pork, the most maligned meat! Pork is not only safe to feed raw, it is a rich source of taurine, relatively low in saturated fat - and a tasty protein cats love! Commercial supplies of human grade meat are safe for your cat to eat raw without the risk of trichinosis. There are so many myths surrounding raw pork - most of which are baseless and just plain wrong. As to the fears of trichinosis? Outdated.
