For anyone that doubts veterinarians are influenced by pet food manufacturers, headlines like the latest "Ohio State veterinary school gets $6 million from pet-food maker Blue Buffalo" make it pretty clear that the pet food companies are putting money where they know they will reach the veterinarians who recommend diets for pets. I applaud pet food companies that donate and try to make a difference. I just wish the ingredient lists were better. For instance, this is the ad on the website for Blue Buffalo:
"Now Enhanced with Super 7 Antioxidants
LifeSource Bits contain a precise blend of vitamins, minerals and antioxidants selected by holistic veterinarians and animal nutritionists. And now all BLUE Life Protection Formula dog foods feature LifeSource Bits that have been enhanced with our Super 7 package of antioxidant-rich ingredients:
Apples Blackberries Blueberries Cranberries Pomegranate Pumpkin Spinach"
Sounds great...except all those ingredients are listed way below SALT in the ingredient list. Yup, one blueberry per bag...maybe?
