I played with it in front of hubs. He said it looks about right compared to the calculations he did before.

I add almost 8 pounds more of boneless meat to 5 pounds of meat, organs, and bone.  I was adding 1.5 pounds of organs, but recently increased to 2 pounds ...to help with constipation issues.  I HOPE that was the right thing to do.
Is the 80/10/10 less of an "issue," if the supplements added are decided by total meat, bone, and organ weight?
There is so much out there about doing raw right... I don't want to be causing any issues with the furkids.

I don't have any advice, but just want to ask a semi-off-topic question:  where do you get the organs?  Hare Today?  Thanks!

I buy ground organs from Hare-Today.  I have bought organs not ground, and had hubby grind them.  :)  I buy some hearts and gizzards at my local grocery store and feed them whole.

PS
If anyone grinds organs at home with a hand grinder... don't thaw first.  If you do, your kitchen will look like a bloody massacre.  ;}

Thanks for the info!  Just a friendly reminder (or fyi to those not familiar with raw feeding):  hearts and gizzards are considered muscle, not organ.   :)

THANKS for the info!!

I buy gizzards for their teeth, since I feed ground.  Gizzards are always packaged with hearts, at my local grocery store.  BUT I did think heart was an organ meat.

I'd think that would be the way it works. Another reason I give the Canine Plus tabs. I'd go crazy if I obsessed about it being perfect. I don't have time for perfect. I just throw the organs in a little 2-cup chopper, and then mix some into their meat after each defrosting. I need 14# of meat each week, so I give them 1.5# organs. That's not perfect.

Bone is already in all of their meat except for the beef/organ mix that I get for their beef rotation; and I haven't even sat down to figure out if the right percentage of bone is in that meat.

Thanks DeeDee.  I would be less apt to worry about "perfect," if no one had constipation issues from the bone content.
