Does the owner even know the dog had puppies yet?

She knows, and apparently there is someone else who was supposed to be feeding her a second time per day, who just hasn't been. She found out I've been feeding her, thanked me, gave me some money back for the dogfood I bought, and a key to her house so I can get to the food that is in there.

That is pretty creepy about the other person not doing the second feeding.  What a turd.  Now that you have a house key... are you having to do both feedings?

Yes, I am doing both feedings, though I feed her more of what I bought and less of the other food. I don't want to offend her by NOT feeding it, this isn't my dog, but I dont' think Pedigree puppy chow and Alpo cans really constitute FOOD, so...

Kita is doing well. Her vertebrae still show slightly at the top, and her ribs are more visible than I would like, but she has her muscle definition back. Its the muscle wasting that was really freaking me out.

It must make you so happy to see her filling out. How does she act when you come? She must be about starved for human companionship, except for you. And the pups are doing well too?

It does make me happy to a ridiculous degree every time I see her now that she isn't a walking skeleton. Don't misunderstand, she is still very thin, but it is SO much better than when I first saw her.

Oh, she loves me. She comes running when she sees my car and sits on my steps waiting for me to go inside and come back out with food, or walks me to the neighbors house to get the "food" for her morning feeding. She loves to have her ears rubbed and the spot at the base of her tail scratched. Actually, she likes being scratched all over. Its no wonder, with the amount of fur that comes off her every time I touch her.

The remaining babies look fat and healthy. I am going to see if she will let me truly handle them when I am off this monday. I don't forsee any problems, since mom-dog apparently thinks I am the greatest thing since sliced bread, but even healthy dogs can be funny about their babies and the last thing I want to do is stress her, ya know?

Kita is losing weight again. I was scrambling to figure out why, since I am actually feeding her MORE, and despite the fact that the pups get canned puppy food mixed with canned goats milk now, which they tend to wear ans much as they eat of, she is regurgitating food for them, like wolves do in the wild. What can I do about this? Anything at all?

How old are they now? She might be trying to start weaning them.

You might want to try to feed them out of the mini-muffin tins. They get less on them that way.

Were you able to find homes for all of them yet, Amber?

Not yet. I am talking to a couple of rescue groups at the moment, we will see what happens.
