A fun surprise!
« on: October 23, 2016, 08:17:01 AM »
Yesterday was a pouring rain kind of day, what one of my consumers in my old job calls "A big Fat Rainy Day".  I had a lot of errands to run first but was eager to suit up and get out in the woods before the high winds came, which would make it too dangerous.

First on the list was the library and I didn't skip that, I was desperate for reading material! I took out 10 books.

Anyway I did make it up there to the Audubon before the wind but just barely.  I had to cut my hike short about half way through, not daring to go back in through the woods for my return loop.

Saw a fox.  That was a first.

Instead of rain, at that elevation it was big fat wet sloppy snow!

Of course the usual self portrait with the camera on a branch.  :)

No picture of the fox?
Love your selfie!
My fav would be the top picture of the "top level."
From the pictures, looks like you had a very enjoyable, peaceful, and refreshing hike.  That's what I get out of it anyway!  :)

The fox was too fast.  I saw a glimpse of movement, turned to see it run across a small clearing and I watched the bushy tail disappear into the underbrush.

The hike was a bit shorter than I wanted but it was everything you said.  HeadButt

It's amazing to see a giant Christmas Tree among a bunch of changing leaves. It really stands out like that.
"In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semihuman. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog." Edward Hoagland
"Thorns may hurt you, men desert you, sunlight turn to fog; but you're never friendless ever, if you have a dog."
