Merrick--Now w/o Carageenan
« on: July 28, 2015, 11:34:40 PM »
Yippee...Merrick now has a new line of Pate---called "Limited Ingredients". There are 3 without fish---chicken, turkey & duck and
there is no carageenan. Personally, this is great news since all 3 of our Furry Kids love the Merrick Chicken Pate which I allow them to
have once a week as a treat.  I thought some of you may find this interesting since Merrick is otherwise known for its quality products. rainbow3

Thank you for the addition! I have added it to the list. It does look like a good food.

However people should be aware that Merrick is now owned by Nestle-Purina.

Our son is changing foods for his dogs b/c it was bought out by Purina.

Yes, I was surprised to learn that in March Merrick sold to Nestle/Purina but it seems that although they are a large corp.,they recognize the need for a non-carrageenan food which is a huge positive.

I wonder if Merrick's rendering plant was included in the sale.

No. Nestle-Purina recognizes the need to take over as much as they can of the pet-care world. I won't ever use anything that comes out of that company.

The story of Beneful tells all that needs to be said about them. One of these days, someone with enough clout is going to sue them for developing a monopoly.

Don't forget a company can use the same labels for SIX MONTHS, after changing ingredients.
