Glad THIS Vet Is Retired!

I swore I was never again going to get involved in the cat declawing controversy, but I have been forced to. Debby and I went to visit our son, who lives with his wife and our grandkids in central California.
They have a new cat, an 8-month-old neutered male. The entire family had scratch wounds on their hands, and, while we were there, the dog suffered a bloody nose. I suggested declawing their new cat's forepaws.

How about trimming the claws?
A scratching post?
Teach the cat not to scratch.
I have 7 cats and no scratch marks.  The dogs don't have any either.  The odds must just be in our favor.   ::)

Unfortunately the article goes on to say that he found some other quack to do it. This, after the last declawed cat in the family "got out and never came back".  People make me sick.

Perhaps if a few of you post your thoughts on his Facebook and Twitter feeds we can help make that intention a reality.

Oh, Lord. It's SO tempting:
