Title: Why Cats Should NOT Be Feed Kibble
Post by: Lola on October 10, 2013, 03:45:18 PM
There are plenty of reasons NOT to feed kibble.

1: Nature designed their teeth for tearing and shearing...they have no flat teeth.

2: Their mouths only move up and down.  They are unable to chew kibble.

3.  Cats lack salivary amylase.  They are not designed to digest carbohydrates.

4. Cats fed kibble walk around chronically dehydrated because they have a low thirst drive relative to their needs because they are desert animals and evolved to get most of their moisture with their food.
5. Carbohydrates wreak havoc on a cats pancreas, because cats are designed to get their glucose from protein sources and kibble-fed cats have to produce much more insulin than they should.
6. Kibble, even "good" kibble, is bacteria soup. It is sprayed with fat and then sits in warm or room-temperature warehouses and grows more bacteria than a petri dish.
7. Mycotoxins - enough said.
