DeeDee,
Do you combine birthday parties, or does each dog get their separate special day?  :)

Thank you all so much!

DeeDee,
Do you combine birthday parties, or does each dog get their separate special day?  :)

They both had some homemade beef gravy on venison this evening for supper, and we'll be having something special for them this Sunday. I'm going to make them some buckwheat carrot pupcakes with carob meringue. Letting them have something sweet is why they only get one "special" day. It would be different if they were months apart, but birthdays are special, and I AM going to let them get something sweet--even if it's only honey meringue with carob powder folded into it.

Thank you so much! Unfortunately I have to be away tomorrow with parents, so I'm going to stop at Petco on the way home and bring something special back to them.

Barkly's BD is in 10 days, so they can get something both days to make up for me being gone so much again lately.

I decided to take them to the store and let them pick out some stuff they want--sometime soon.

I still don't want to even think about Wednesday. It was one of "those" days that made me want to pull all my hair out.

I'm sorry you had such a horrible day!  Did you tell us about it somewhere and I missed it?

Happy belated birthday to you Vlad puppy!  love1 doggif  When you do take them to the store to pick out their own prize, I'd love to hear about it.  Maybe even see a picture or two.

No. I've not said a thing about it until now. I was just trying to forget about it as much as I could. I just came home and curled up with them on Vlad's new bed that he got at Christmas. It's 44 x 35, and all three of us can curl up on it with each other. LOL

Sorry to hear the day was carpy.  :(
Nice that you can cuddle and relax with Vlad and Barkly though.  :)
I think it would be cute to see them both pick out their own toys at the store!

Well we didn't take them. Dog-Daddy had other places to go, and I hate wasting that much gas on just a trip to one place so that Vlad doesn't get overly stressed out.

They ended up with some Natural Balance and Blue Buffalo cookies that have lower fat for Vlad's needs. Not all of their mixes have lower fat, but a couple of the flavors do. Barkly doesn't care what kind he gets and can eat anything, so everything revolves around Vlad's needs now.

I think we'll get in the kitchen tomorrow and make some of their favorite carob cookies. They love cooking.

The perfect antidote.  I prescribe that for you at least once a day..forever.

I definitely want to hear more about that, and pictures would be good too!!!

Fun Fact. Vlad was whelped on Friday the 13th.

Thank you! Seriously. If you want to give your pet a thrill, make some yogurt (all I have is goat) and liver Royal Icing:

1/2 cup Potato Starch
1/2 TBS plain yogurt
1/2 TBS pureed liver

Mix well, then add a little more yogurt/liver stirring well after each addition until you reach the desired consistency.

Downside, if you don't have a dehydrator to put it in after icing the cookies, you have to throw it into the oven between 150-170° for a couple of hours until completely dry. OR keep it in the fridge for up to 5 days.

Thank you! As far as party plans, they'll get their special meal of a steak thrown into their bowls on the 18th, and I'll make them some carob cookies. That's halfway between their birthdays. It's really hard for me to believe that they're 6 (Vlad) and almost 7 now.

Tomorrow won't be anything but staying in here. It iced, and it's still snowing. There have been some extreme wrecks here in TN today.

Just don't try to drive down here the next couple of days. There was a huge pileup SW outside of Jackson today because NO ONE can drive in this crap,

Here's a look at what the traffic is like in Nashville area right now:

Even if they left home, no one is going anywhere.

Thank you, Pookie. For his birthday, he got his favorite thing. Snow. LOL

Finally took his braid down because it's easier to dry. I don't want his braid mildewing, but that also means that I'm having to blow dry dreads out. Good times.

Have we seen pictures of his hair braided?  His hair really can mildew?

I don't know if you have or not. I'll have to take a shot when I put it back up.

Any dog that has hair that stays damp long-term can mildew. Pulik are a prime example of dogs that will mildew if you don't get it completely dry.
