I read about the blinking "I love you," in his book.... and have done it ever since.  It does work! 

The rest of his suggestions were interesting too.

I've always done what he calls the "finger nose".  It encourages the "head bonk".
I also tend to do the "how ya doin'" nod. 
I've never really been conscious of the blinking, the test for that in my book would be to do it with strange/unfamiliar cats.

I use the eye blinking with Jenkins... The one that would be perfectly happy to live in a world with no humans.  Lol
