Title: FreshPet
Post by: Lola on March 29, 2017, 09:18:26 PM
I checked this food out at my local grocery store.  Thought maybe it would be a good option in an emergency.

Quote
Beef, Chicken, Beef Liver, Beef Broth, Peas, Carrots, Eggs, Brown Rice, Rice Bran, Soy Flour, Carrageenan, Natural Flavors, Salt, Calcium Carbonate, Potassium Chloride, Celery Powder. - See more at: https://freshpet.com/products/freshpetselectbeefrecipe/#sthash.beU1unZO.dpuf

I get it that there might be ingredients in a wet food that are less than perfect.  But carrageenan?!  :(

I'm not thrilled to see "brown rice, rice bran, soy flour" either.  All that said, if it's STRICTLY for emergency use, maybe it's an option??  :-\

Yeah, I don't like most of the ingredients either.  Carrageenan is just one of those ingredients that I'm REALLY not thrilled about.  For what that food costs, and the ingredients...  no thanks.

Here's my problem with it. I knew someone from another board somewhere that ended up with dogs that were all sick from food poisoning. Seems that the stores that have it might not be so careful with the refrigeration requirements of these foods. I especially can't recommend buying it at Petco for that reason.
