I know this will probably sound pushy, and I apologize in advance, but I don't tend to be reasonable where vaccines are concerned.

Vaccines are only to be used in healthy animals, and the labels state that.  Remember, a vaccine stimulates the immune system.  An animal that is sneezing, etc. already had an immune system that's fighting something.  It does NOT need to be slammed with anything else during that time.  Do not, under any circumstances, let the vet talk you into vaccinating a pet if the pet is showing any signs of illness.  The vaccines can wait until the pet is healthy.

Thank you Shadow, glad to be here.

Totally forgot to write about the vet visit yesterday, totally stressed. Jemma and Patches had fever, got shots and antibiotic shot. They needed the two week shot which is more expensive because they are semi feral. Worried about Fish, he stopped eating, but he goes crazy in the carrier.

Which brings me to a question, he hurt his nose in the carrier because he just wantef out. Felix will do the same thing. Anyway, he has a bloody mose and I was wondering if there is anything I can put on it like Vaseline.

You could try coconut oil.  I know they're not supposed to eat it (they shouldn't get medium-chain fatty acids), but I would think a little smear would be ok.  I use it instead of Neosporin and it works just as well.

Sending hugs that all the furkids feel better soon, and things calm down for you.  grouphug

Any updates?
Personally... I would not allow the vet to give any vaccinations to any of them.  Just my  2cents

Thx for asking Lola. The 'stomach" virus seems gone but Watson had some retching yesterday and seems warm today. I stayed home Monday to get him to the vet, he had fever, and almost lost my job over it (not that it would be a big loss). Fish, Charlie and Felix have inflamed gums and mouth sores that seem to be a new virus as a result of the old one. Vet suggested, wait for it, Lysine. We did buy a bag the other day, although I absolutely cannot afford it at the time, but the same is true for the vet bill. Btw, my vet says he can get me the Lysine at wholesale if I buy bulk. Depending what it costs maybe some of us can pool together, just a thought.
I do have a fundraising site for the vet bill because it really is a whopper, if anyone can share it on FB or wherever possible I would really appreciate it. The site is http://www.youcaring.com/pet-expenses/vet-for-watson/290613 and I wouldn't post it if I weren't desperate. I try and update it regularly as we get results and also on my FB site facebook.com/petsouth which I am always happy to get a like on :)

Sorry you are continuing to have kitty health problems.

L-Lysine isn't very expensive though? And the dose is so small, it lasts a very long time. This is the brand I have always used. Very inexpensive.

Maybe its just the chews, that is cheap. The bag would last three days. Watson is having fever again, he has been getting his two lysine per day. Prob another vet visit

The chews are not cheap and they include undesirable ingredients.

Much better for both your wallet and your cat, to use the pure powder.  It has no taste except slightly salty, gets mixed right into the wet food. 1/4 teaspoon is a 500 mg therapeutic dose.  Half in a morning meal, half in an evening meal.

Hey Lola, thx for asking, been meaning to write about it but keep getting distracted. Questions, questions, questions. Although its not specially for cats, this is okay for the cats? How much do I dose? I have several and I free feed. Can they get too much?

Just to be sure...
You have the 100 mg (powder form) made by Source Naturals... correct?

I give 1/8 teaspoon twice a day.  I mix it in their wet food.

Is there any way you can "serve" individual meals, so you know who is getting how much and when?
