I have a thermos of diluted ACV (w/mother) on my desk.   funny2  I learned about it from one of Shadow's posts about earthclinic.com.  Thanks Shadow!

I have a co-worker who could not shake a cough he had (from a cold).  I told him about ACV and he tried it.  The cough disappeared.  He said it tasted horrible and I said (with a big grin) "but it worked, didn't it."   :D

He's right, it's not the best tasting thing (I don't add honey or anything to mine, but I'm used to it), but I find it helps me with indigestion/burping.  I haven't noticed it helping with my allergies, though.

In the Northeast, it's available at Shop-Rite and at health food stores.

P.S.  Vinegar is anti-bacterial, so I'm not surprised it can help with infections.  My personal theory is that it makes the body's pH more acid, thus making the body a more hostile environment for nasty stuff.  That's my theory and I'm sticking with it!   Bumpurr1

I did read somewhere about vinegar and the body's PH levels...

Anyway, I haven't tried it yet.  I was hoping to find more "testimonies" about it helping allergies.

BTW, someone suggested drinking it through a straw...to save your teeth's enamel.  I would ASSuME rinsing your mouth would work pretty good also.

I've tried having some before, but even with diluting it with a lot of water, it still tasted horrible.  I guess I would get used to it eventually!

To receive benefits from apple cider vinegar, it has to be organic unprocessed vinegar.  The kind you buy in the salad dressing ailse is useless.

I use vinegar to keep my sinuses healthy in the winter time.  I started getting plagued with sinus infections about 8 years ago, every winter.  Antibiotics would clear it up then it would come back, maddening.

Then I came across a post in another forum about using raw vinegar.  I knew it was good for arthritis, and had tried it for that many years ago.  It HAD worked, but the taste was so bad I didn't keep it up.  But I was desperate for something to control these winter sinus issues.

This is what I do: I mix up a solution of one part vinegar (1/2 cup) to four parts water (2 cups), two tablespoons of organic honey (best if produced locally, to help with local allergies) and a tablespoon of cinnamon. (cinnamon is antifungal) I really should be using more cinnamon, but I hate it to have had to work up to it.  I started with only 1/4 teaspoon, so being up to a tablespoon is pretty good.

I drink 6 ounces of this mixture every day.  I take a break from it every so often because vinegar is rough on the esophagus, but I can always tell when I've gone too long as my sinus symptoms come back.

Drinking it down gives instant sinus relief, but if you have a long term infection it takes a few weeks to clear it up completely.

Just to clarify:  Shop-Rite actually carries the organic brand that includes the mother, at least the ones in my area do.  I think the brand is "Bragg."

That's the brand I buy too, I get it at my grocery store:  Hannaford. Though they were out of it last time I went to buy it, that's been a real problem at Hannaford lately.

My local grocery store carries the Bragg brand.  Picked some up today.  The look on my hubby's face was priceless, when I told him that I was going to try to drink it.

Oh dear!  How did you drink it?  Straight?  Mixed with water?  How much?  You shouldn't take more than a tablespoon or two at a time.  It's really something that has to be eased into.

Drank 2 tablespoons in 16 oz of water with added honey.  Drank it through a straw.  Got about  8 oz down.  I'll try it again, but not today.  lol

I drank this when I was sick, I heated it up 2 tbsp of ACV, and 2Tbsp honey on a cup of water with Lemon. It actually was not too bad heated up.

I may try that later.  Right now, my stomach still has a memory.  lol

I used a straw, because I wanted to keep the stuff away from the enamel on my teeth.  Plus, I wanted the least amount "swirling" around my mouth as possible.
