Dog Snacks
« on: October 06, 2017, 10:48:36 PM »
Long time ago, we gave our dogs a cracker as a treat... for something wonderful they did.   :)  That is all we had on hand, at the time. It was a one time deal. However... after that, every time someone said the word "cracker," the dogs would get all excited.  The use of the word "cracker," for treat, just stuck.   Silly7

It isn't something I have ever given much thought to... until today.

I yell to hubby (he is another room), "You want crackers with your meal?"  Around the corner comes Lacy dog, at a pretty fast pace... tail wagging!  Once again, we had no dog appropriate snacks on hand.

Makes me think  of a similar story.  A friend had newly started putting out a bird feeder.  Once the birds found it there was lots of chirping.  She was so excited she found herself walking around the house singing "tweet tweet tweet" all the time.  Then she noticed every time she did that all the cats would come running and follow her around.

She finally realized they thought she was calling them to treats.

LOL. That's why everything that's a treat is called a "cookie" around here. Pavlovian response.
"In order to really enjoy a dog, one doesn't merely try to train him to be semihuman. The point of it is to open oneself to the possibility of becoming partly a dog." Edward Hoagland
"Thorns may hurt you, men desert you, sunlight turn to fog; but you're never friendless ever, if you have a dog."

Tweet, tweet, tweet.... ROTFL!

We are more apt to say "cookie," more often then "cracker." Hubby eats more cookies. HA HA HA!
