Last weigh in 6 lbs 8 ounces.  Just talked to the vet and she has agreed to my proposed treatment plan. Continue with the pred every other day and monitor. Hold off on diagnostics. She doesn't want to prescribe pain meds right now, wants me to try again with the cosequin.

Bad news the Organix canned food she is doing so well on has been discontinued.

Vet wants to see her in a couple of weeks so she has an appointment on the 18th, but I can cancel the specialist trip, yay.

Sorry so brief but I'm wiped out. Tax collection is upon us lol. I'll be back to my loquacious self on the weekend and an update on the perch.  Hug1 Hug1 Hug1

Ah, I see I did already start the story about the new TV. Well here's the next installment.

The new perches I built for her today, side view, desk view, front view. Everything used is stuff I already have in the house. Half the time creating is spent rummaging in baggies and the tool box to find the right sized screws lol.  Both shelves are from the kitchen, back when I tore apart and rebuilt that side counter/cupboard/draw unit. I knew I had at least two shelf brackets, though they don't match, and the shelves (also made by me many years ago, and also from scrap wood)  in the middle helped support things too.

I went for step-shelves so she can get on and off them easily from the desk. Though I suspect, at least at first, she might continue to jump down the far side off the edge of the table. That's how she used to get down, when it was just the big TV there.

I'd like to cover the shelves, for her comfort. I like the look of plain wood but she might like something she can scratch on, plus a soft spot to curl up..

She hasn't found it yet.

First:  Belated Merry Christmas!

2nd:  I understand the worry about taking her off the pred.  I went through that with Kitty.  And I know vets freak about keeping pets on pred long-term, but per Dr. Plechner, some pets need to be on low-dose (key words there are LOW dose) pred, because their adrenals aren't producing enough cortisol, and/or they have too much estrogen in their system which lowers cortisol and causes inflammation.  The low-dose pred is just enough to bring things into balance, kind of like a person who is hypo-thyroid takes a thyroid medication to bring those hormones back into balance.

My point is, while hopefully she'll continue to do well once she's off the pred fingerscrossed, if she does continue to need it, she may be one of those pets that needs to be on a low-dose to keep things in balance and control inflammation.  He had a bunch of specific tests that he ran, but the main thing is to use the lowest effective dose.  I had Kitty on .2ml/day, and that seemed to work for her.

Why bother with a shelf?   :D  She's seems fine with the dinosaur.   Silly7

Holy crap I did it! I hooked up the wireless and firestick and amazon to the new tv --all of it! Not without much angst and tears and pain, but by gosh I did it. All by myself.

Wow. I am in awe of myself lol

Queen Eva checking out our Christmas present: a new-to-me TV. New enough to be able to be used with modern technology, but not so new I can't operate it. It's all formatted already and I hooked up my dvd player without any trouble. The friend who donated it also gave me a Firestick for Christmas, so I still do have some learning to do.

If ever I can find someone to remove that old dinosaur for me, I'll build Queen Eva a shelf to perch on above the TV instead.

I'm so afraid of taking Queen Eva off the prednisolone. Today was her last dose of the taper. Supposed to be. But good grief it's a long holiday weekend, and so is next weekend, I don't want her crashing on a holiday.

There's still some in the bottle, so I might keep going for a few more days, with the every other day, until I can speak to my vet.

When I do take her off, if she crashes, I'm wondering if I even need to put her through any diagnostics, since, as shown the pred helps her so much, the treatment will be the same, whatever the outcome.

If she continues on the upswing, good. But I'd rather wait to find out, either way, AFTER the holidays. If I do keep the specialist appointment, she'll have to be off the pred anyway, so it would be better timing to take her off at the beginning of January. It's a very very tiny dose, but it's helping her so much.

She has gained 1 1/2 more ounces since last weigh in 4 days ago. 6 pounds 6 ounces now. I bought her a Red Dot, in the hopes of getting her running a little bit. She's gone off all her Running Games. I'm careful not to let her overdo, but she had a fun run last night and another this morning.
