Title: DA2PPV 3 year?
Post by: Lola on December 10, 2016, 12:06:09 PM
Lacy is due for her 3 year rabbies vaccination.  The reminder card (from previous vet) shows that she is also due for DA2PPV.  "DA2PPV vaccine is a canine vaccination for distemper, hepatitis, parvovirus and the parainfluenza viruses."

Is it really necessary?

If she's had one since she was 6 mths to a little over 1 year of age, I wouldn't. Mine are only going to get rabies for the rest of their lives. If you're worried, you can do titers, but just be aware, I've heard some people talking about those in-house kits that vets get haven't been reading right--usually in favor of the vet giving shots.

Sending blood out to an independent lab gets other readings.

Without me digging out her records... more than likely she had one every 3 years, if it was vet recommended.  :(
Thanks for your input.  I'll skip it.
