Cooking Question...
« on: March 10, 2015, 09:29:09 PM »
I keep on seeing people talking about making Dulce de leche by putting a can of sweetened condensed milk in a crockpot bath and cooking it overnight and then letting it cool for a few hours before opening.

Is this even safe? Aren't those cans lined in that rubbery stuff? Wouldn't that cause plastic to leech out into the milk? If you're going to do this, shouldn't you pour the milk into a glass jar or something?

I can't do it without making condensed milk from scratch out of goat milk anyway, but still. Just wondering about what people are doing.

Sounds a bit weird to me.
I don't know if there is a can liner or not, in the most popular brand of condensed milk.  Never paid attention.
