I was cutting up turkey thighs for Jennie and Queen Eva this morning. I pull off as much of the skin as I can, but trying to leave the inner layer of tissue. The thigh bones are for my soup, and of course I like the cartilage for my soup too.
Jennie was downright frantic with the smell of fresh turkey thigh so I took pity on her and gave her a big chunk of cartilage saying as I handed it to her "here, this should keep you occupied for a while".
I was wrong. I had made note of where she was eating so I could clean the spot on the floor when she was done. She never dropped it to the floor at all. She had it masticated and swallowed in less than a minute.
While it didn't occupy her as I had hoped, it did seem to satisfy her, and I was able to finish the job in peace.
