Thank you SO MUCH Lola!  To clarify, the discontinued sizes are cans that are larger (6 oz as opposed to the new 5.5 ounce), but the old cases are only 12 cans per case as opposed to the new 24 can cases.  Still it is an AMAZING price. I bought 10 12 can cases, because the free shipping only goes up to 60 pounds.

Hope you were able to get lots too.  I wonder if you can place multiple orders?

Thanks for pointing out that the discontinued cans are larger.  I had a brain fart.
I put in two orders... one for 10 cases and another for 11.  Couldn't put in two orders for 10 because PetFoodDirect thought it was a duplicate order.

Wish the chicken (without fish) would have been available also.  Wish the dog food would change sizes.  Oh well... can't have it all!  :)

Later, I got to thinking about the dates... wonder how long they are good for.  We DO go through a LOT of cat food, but that brand is only served one meal a day.  If the dates are too close, I will just donate them to a shelter.  Which got me to thinking... wonder if shelter cats would eat a better food than what they are used to?  I am over analyzing probably...

While I'm yapping...  Can't get free shipping on auto deliveries with PetFoodDirect.  That stinks.
Also, maybe it is just me, but I find PetFoodDirect a bit of a pain to order from.  I still do order from them, but...   pullingouthair

I thought about the dates too, but reasoned thus:  When The National Pet Pharmacy (sister company to PFD) had their clearance sale for this product, all the dates are for well into 2015. It stands to reason that these cases will be the same.  PFD probably tried to unload them without deeply discounting, and now they are in a rush to clear them out. I still have some from the last sale, but now that TC is off all the carrageenan foods that were in her rotation I'm going through it a lot more quickly.

Yes, I don't order from  Pet Food Direct very often, my auto ship goes through National Pet Pharmacy.

Maybe I'll place another order this morning.

Maybe I'll switch my auto ship to their National Pet Pharmacy sister.
PetFlow asks if you want auto-ship, but they don't cram it down your throat.

I ordered six more cases of 12 6 ounce cans today. Just enough to get the free shipping again. So a total of 16 cases of food.  1172 ounces of cat food at 12 cents an ounce is a good savings. I'll wait until I see the dates before attempting to order more.

Pet food is pretty much like toilet paper... there is always going to be a need for it. Therefore, hoarding tendencies don't apply.   ;D
I have room, but lots more dollars would be involved.  My hubby already looked at me like I was a nut, when I got sooooo excited about the sale and ordered 21 cases. He's lived with me  long enough to just go with the flow.

The dates are fine, "best by May 2015"

I have placed another order of 6 cases, 2 of the Turkey and liver, 4 of the turkey and Chicken, just like the last order (I have only one cat who likes the turkey and liver).  That makes 22 of the 12 can cases all together. At 12 cents an ounce, since I am about to take another cut in income, this couldn't have come at a better time.

You already got yours?  I'm a bit farther away.  Won't get my first order until Monday.  I put in another order tonight.
PetFoodDirect has the carrageenan info wrong... right?  There is no carrageenan in the Organic flavors... correct?  I think I remember correctly, but I'm kinda tired.  Don't normal people always order pet food at 2 a.m?    Bumpurr1

I often order food in the middle of the night. Once I ordered Probios in the middle of the night and got a surprised discount of half off!

I got box one of two, of the first order, yesterday.  I expect the second box of the first order will come today.  The second order shipped yesterday so it will probably be here on Friday. The third will probably be here next Monday.

Box one of two, from order one, came in a wonderful really sturdy box that the cats are enjoying as a Box Fort.  At first I left it upright for Little Cat to jump in and out of but then turned it on it's side and they are all enjoying it. To make it more fun, I cut a flap in the back for another entry/exit.

This is one way of foiling my hoarding tendency a little. 8 months ago this box would have been flattened, folded up and stored with 100 other boxes. Now I make sure to either turn them into temporary Box Forts, or get rid of them right away.

Yes, the stores still have the carrageenan wrong.  There is no carrageenan in the By Nature Organic, and it is NOT listed on the can labels, nor on the website.  I contacted all the on line stores I know of who have the wrong ingredient list, even remarking to them that many people are looking for foods that do NOT contain carrageenan now, but apparently it takes them as long as it took By Nature to fix their product copy.  I don't know why, how difficult is it to delete a word?

My UPS guy is going to HATE me.  lol  My orders are due to be delivered on 3 different days.

I leave the boxes out, for a few days, for the cats to play in.  After a few days, they are bored of them.  Then they go into the recycle bin.

You would THINK companies would want to be accurate, concerning the carrageenan ingredient.  It IS a "hot topic" lately... and not with just us.  lol

I was thinking the same thing about the ups guy LOL! He's been three times already (my first order came in 2 boxes) and there is one more box to come.

I'm doing the same, I got rid of the box with the flap cut yesterday but then another order came in so they have another.  I get tired of having to step around them long before they get bored with them.  However it kills me to fold them flat and get rid of them, because I am a cardboard box hoarder and these are WONDERFUL boxes, so thick and sturdy!

But I AM getting rid of them, thank goodness.

I'm so glad you clarified this, I wasn't going to order any (if there is any left lol) because carrageenan is listed on PetFoodDirect site.

I ordered 2 cases of turkey and turkey liver and 2 cases of turkey and chicken. I was going to get 2 cases of the other variety that was on sale, but they were out by the time I could order  :( so I got a case of the 95% beef instead (its all for my moms kitten).

It is just the By Nature Organics that is Carrageenan free... I believe.  MC will correct me, if I'm mistaken.

By Nature Organics is carrageenan free.  The website, and the can labels have the correct ingredients listed.  The on line stores who sell the food have not been updated.

The By Nature 95% is not carrageenan free. By Nature has one new formula, "Entrees Cat Food" that is carrageenan free and menadione free, BUT it is not vegetable matter free (grains and/or fruits and veggies).  Their other new formula "Artisan"  contains carrageenan and fruits and vegetables.

I couldn't believe they still have some of those discontinued cases.  I placed one more order, the shipnow code is still good too.  I now have enough By Nature Organic to last me one year, and I got it all for half price. bananamiddlechild

Yeah, I got the 12 6 ounce cans for 9.99 a case back in January, I think you got some too? I ordered only 12 cases at that time, thinking they would run out.

They're trying to unload this stuff, but they can't be bothered to change their copy with the incorrect ingredients.  They'd be out by now if they had. I wrote to both stores at the time By Nature corrected their website.

I just checked ... PetFoodDirect still shows some in stock.  If anyone ELSE is interested.  lol

Goose (real name Lucy) just informed me that she doesn't care too much for the turkey.  She saw the bazillion cases and is just trying to rattle my chain...that's just how Goose rolls.    catmilk1
