Title: Cat's Pride
Post by: Lola on September 20, 2013, 01:45:14 AM
Ok, MC... giving it a try.   ;D

Hubby was STUNNED to see something, other than Dr. Esleys Precious Cat litter.  lol  I wanted to clean boxes tonight, instead of waiting until Saturday.  Didn't have enough of Precious Cat Litter...and the store that sells it...closed.  Soooooo, went to the grocery store and bought Cat's Pride.

I always hear people saying that Precious Cat is soooo expensive.  It isn't at all!  I pay 15 bucks for a 40 bag..even less, with a coupon.  Cat's Pride... 20 pounds - 8 bucks... on sale!   :o  I'm not complaining, I was just surprised that Cat's Pride wasn't cheaper.

No scent.  Didn't see any dust either.

I really like the Cat's Pride clumping Natural unscented.  Mainly because of the lack of dust.  I go through 2 20 pound jugs a month, at $7.39 a jug and I always have a $1 off coupon, so it's not too high for me.  I couldn't lift a 40 lb bag of litter any more anyway, even 20 pounds is pushing it, since I hurt my back over the summer.

I know a lot of people who love Precious Cat but I also see quite a few complaints about dust and inconsistency.

Other than the price, I can't tell if you like the cat's pride or not?  :)

I bought the "Fresh And Light" unscented.  No dust.  It sure is fine though.  Makes a bigger mess on the floor, but it doesn't hurt to step on it barefoot.   Bumpurr1  Maybe the mess, on the floor, means less sticks to their paws. ??

AFTER I bought 6 jugs, I checked out their website.  A person can get one $!.00 off coupon a month.  I can always get $1.00 or 3.00 coupon for Precious...as many as I want to print.

I have NEVER seen ANY dust with Precious cat.  I have noticed it is different looking, at times.  Not sure what that is all about... still worked the same though.

Do I like it?  If it wasn't on sale.... it would have been a LOT more expensive than Precious cat.  So the price sucks, but the convenience of being able to buy it at the grocery store makes life a bit easier.  The cats don't seem to have any issues with it.  Haven't noticed it being used more (or less) than the boxes with Precious in them.  Seems to do the job as far as odor control.  I have one box that has reallllly rounded corners.  The Cat's Pride seems to be MUCH easier to scoop anything "stuck" in the corners...easier than Precious.

Soooo, I give it a  thumbsup1 thumbsup1

I hate the Fresh and Light, LOL.  In my opinion it turns to mush when wet and very difficult to scoop.  Yes I print one coupon a month from their facebook page (I posted the link in this forum a while back, when it used to be two coupons a month) plus they often send me coupons.  Once I got four coupons for free jugs.

I bought a cheap 'yoga mat' that lays in front of the litter boxes.  That seems to grab the litter effectively and none of it gets tracked any further.

I used to use a certain type of door mat but I can't find them any more, for one thing, and for another, though they are washable, with Mazy puking on them so often, they didn't last long.  This yoga mat can be wiped up easily if it gets puked on.

That's funny.... you hating Fresh and Light.  I don't think I saw other options, at the store I was at.  I'll double check on my next visit.
So far, no "mush" or scooping issues.  BUT maybe I have the scooper of all scoopers!    lol  (Referring to the other thread about missing scoop.)

I just have regular throw rugs, under all the boxes.  I have to stick to using a particular kind of rug, or my red boy uses them for scratching.  Yes, I could train/direct him elsewhere, but...

The boxes, with lids, the cats step out and in the direction of the rug... most litter stops there.  The boxes with no lids... the cats can leave from any angle... the rugs only "catch" so much.

Our oldest cat paws at a box for about 10 minutes.  NO litter leaves the box, when she is done.   Bumpurr1

I really like how well it clumps.  And the one litter box that Precious Cat litter sticks to, like cement... Cat's Pride didn't.  I like that is is light weight.  Also convenient to buy at the grocery store.
But...It hasn't even been two weeks, and the Cat's Pride STINKS TO HIGH HEAVEN! I'm really surprised it is so stinky, since it clumped VERY well.  I am always able to get everything in one scoop, without any pieces breaking apart and staying behind.
I'm bummed.
Going back to using Dr. Esley's Precious Cat Litter only....

This is the fresh -n- light you are using? I hated that stuff, but I know someone else who loves it.  Smell wasn't my issue though, I thought it's clumping was not good, how funny.  It seemed t turn more to mush than hard clumps.

I like the Cat's Pride Naturals unscented.  NO dust, clumps fine, not having any trouble with odor (dump and change out the paper liners once a month)
