Blizzard & Nightmare
« on: May 24, 2012, 06:12:10 PM »
I've been avoiding posting this, mostly because it hasn't really hit me yet.  Blizzard and Nightmare found some poisoned rats and ate them.  At least that is the assumption, as there were some dead rats laying around the farm the same time Blizzard and Nightmare got sick.  I wish I had noticed earlier that they were acting off - but there really weren't much signs before they disappeared - other than them not eating the day before.

Blizzard and Nightmare are half-brothers, and half-brothers to Lynx.  They both would go out hunting (unlike most of the cats) and somewhat tolerated me as long as I was feeding them.  Nightmare was born in 2005 and Blizzard in 2006.

I'm assuming they passed away - they have been missing for two weeks.  They never would have missed a feeding.  I wish I could have done something, but I ignored the fact that they decided to skip eating the night before they disappeared - I just figured they had caught something and weren't hungry.

I don't even know if that is what happened, but it is the assumption that made the most sense.  Dead rats lying around the same time that Blizz and Nightmare disappeared?  It kinda makes the most sense that those rats ate poisen, and that Blizzard and Nightmare either at the same poisen or ate the sick/dead rats.

I really am sorry.  You gave them a wonderful life.  You did your best -- unfortunately there are things that we just can't control and we can't foresee.  You're a wonderful mommy.

How terrible.  I'm so sorry. Gosh I just don't know what to say.  Is there anyway to find out who is using poison and asking them to stop?

Oh Mo we are so sorry for this :( rainbow3

Im not sure if you know this because you are farmers, but not sure if you guys put rat poison down for the farm rats?
We used to use Fresh Coke, yup Coca Cola, they drink it and they explode becuase they cannot burp. It works!!
maybe you can tell the other farmers in your area about this.
The coke it put in a pie plate and changed everyday, it has to be fresh!

I hope you can find out defintely what happened to your sweeties ((((hugs))))
