I have heard (don't know if the info is accurate) that a flu shot may not actually "cover" the particular strain of flu that is going around.

That would be correct.  They take a scientific guess at which will be the worst strain(s) and that's what they go with for the flu shot.  If I remember correctly, I think starting in the last year or two, the flu shot consists of H1N1 and 1 or 2 other strains, but I'd have to check.

I have been sleeping in the guest room, but not because I'm sick... hubby is.
So he gets the big king sized bed with all the cuddle monsters.
Something seems a little unfair about that...

Huh. I guess I'll pass anyway, even if they do develop a super-shot.  funny2

Every time one of my family has gotten a flu shot, days later they had the flu. Nope, not taking that chance. I've got no health insurance, I've got a job to keep and too much going on to let them GIVE me the flu and saying it's good for me. And their scientificisms count for CRAP, there are too many strains, to just throw a guess at it and hope it works when it hardly ever does.

To be clear, this article is about a flu shot used in Europe when the H1N1 pandemic was making the news.  This was NOT used in the US.  The girl in this story, and others like her who were similarly impacted, have my sympathy.  I wonder if homeopathy would help them . . .

I didn't get the flu shot, but my family (two sisters, mom, and dad) all did.  Guess what?  They have all been sick, some of them three times, with various forms of the flu since getting the vaccine.  Me?  So far, I haven't gotten sick, however I'm doing other things they aren't to try stay healthy - such as drinking lots of lemon water and eating raw honey.
