Dr. Pierson's recipe can't be used to feed a dog?

I don't know, really.  But.  Some commercial food companies sell foods that are supposedly complete and balanced for both cats and dogs, the same food I mean.  The food, supposedly, is geared toward proper balance for the CAT, which apparent;y follows that it will be fine for the dog too.

It doens't work the other way though, a food balanced for a dog may not necessarily be balanced for a cat.

So having said all that, I guess my answer is still "I don't know".  :D

Explanations I've read are like MC said, Taurine requirement;  the difference in nutritional requirements; cats being obligate carns & dogs being facultative;  cats' digestive systems being muuuuuch smaller (& not as long); and the moisture requirement, difference in thirst drives (cats not having a natural thirst drive).

I have wondered that myself.  I would guess the Taurine amount would be the main difference... dogs not needing the same amount that cats do.  BUT... I would ask Dr. P, rather than assume anything.
