Candied nuts for things like hostess gifts
« on: December 06, 2014, 11:52:36 PM »
Tonight was a test-run to make sure I liked the recipe. These things are ridiculously good and easy:

Cinnamon-Sugar Candied Pecans

You can use any nuts you like.

I think next time I'll go ahead and add a whole tablespoon of cinnamon like this recipe that takes out ages of your time compared to the Pecan recipe:

Candied Almonds

Edit: Oh. Don't forget to save the yokes for your pets!

Well I guess the whites in the first recipe are to help the stuff stick.  Plus the first recipe has vanilla and I love vanilla.

I would probably stick to the smaller amount of cinnamon I'm not a big fan of cinnamon.

However...yummy yummy yummy!

Thanks for sharing!

Since this egg white method works so well, I can think of a lot of different combinations that would be great:

Just Vanilla, no cinnamon

Vanilla replaced with orange extract & cinnamon in the sugar

Just orange extract/plain sugar

If you're a candy-cane fan, the peppermint extract w/no cinnamon

Heck, there are a lot of flavors I bet would be great. . .especially the liquor flavored ones.

BOL. It really is easy, Lola. I mean crazily easy. I found out quickly that you don't have to actually flip them over every 15 minutes. Just stir them around some. Even if you think it's wet, it turns crispy once it cools after the hour.
