The Crazy New ZugoPet Rocketeer Packs
« on: February 11, 2018, 06:49:24 PM »
https://zugopet.com/products/the-rocketeer-pack <-----the link I will be mostly referring to in this rant.

This is misleading as hell, and I don't care how little your dog is. BE WARY!

They refer to this letter in their sales site. Let's go over it, shall we? They highlight the 2nd paragraph, which makes the harness sound pretty good, right? Read the 3rd paragraph. "I'm not sure how long dogs can "sit" in this position. . ." AND "Also, factual motion studies with dummies or live patients may be useful." http://www.centerforpetsafety.org/wp-content/uploads/2017/08/Dr-Harari-Ltr.pdf  That 3rd paragraph sounds to me like the good Dr. was blowing Rainbows and Unicorn Poop into someone's face in the 2nd paragraph for some reason.

Now let's get a good look at the CPS that they're saying has certified them for 25-pounds. They're a non-profit 501 geared toward pet safety. http://www.centerforpetsafety.org/who-is-cps/

That's all fine and good but for this one little thing when they're testing car-products. Look at their "crash test dummies" that supposedly replace dogs. Now unless someone's had their dogs' necks and spines fused, those things are in no way similar to dogs. Just like children, dogs have floppy necks in instances of crashes. Just like children that haven't been properly fitted in their car seats (especially when they still need to be rear facing), dogs are going to snap their necks if they're in these rocketeer things in a crash. I'm posting the video at the bottom.

CPS isn't going to get Dee's seal of approval until they get doggy crash-test dummies that actually resemble human crash test dummies with their real-action body parts that especially replace the way a neck would naturally move in a real crash. ZugoPet isn't going to get my approval either.

I guess the main point of my rant is, sit down and think about how things really move in certain conditions. Ears that flop are NOT real indicators of actual skeletons, or the way they react under certain conditions. Ask yourself if you really trust the messengers and their testing methodology. Ask yourself if what you're seeing is just as good as what you see for human testing.

Don't be fooled just because you don't see a neck moving. The neck on that dummy won't move no matter what you do.

So, that bag https://zugopet.com/products/jetsetter-grey-black-white had a kickstarter made by Jules Bindi, but who the heck is "Carolyn Shewfelt" for the Rocketeer harness pack that's redacted in most copies of the letter:

One of those things that make you go, "Hmmmmmm."
