Just saw a commercial yesterday, and was thinking how gorgeous he is/was.  :(

It's unfortunate, but Golden Retrievers have some of the highest rates of cancer of all breeds. However, I haven't seen any evidence of whether it's because it's one of the most popular breeds of all, so it's bred the most; or if it's because of the high spay and neuter rates since studies have indicated that early S&N has something to do with the cancer rates in the breed. It's probably a combination of both.
